Migrant Welfare

Indian migrant workers during the Covid-19 pandemic faced multiple hardships. With factories and workplaces shut down due to the lockdown, millions of migrant workers had to deal with loss of income, and uncertainty about food and future. With no means of transport, thousands of them, who were stranded away from their families, did something unimaginable. They walked. HILLS was quick to react to the crisis. We did everything within our collective powers to help our migrant brethren.

With the generous help of our donors and volunteers, we have been able to feed both the stranded migrant labourers as well as those enroute their homes. We helped several of them reach home safely and found employment for those, who chose to stay back. Moreover, we regularly contact government officials to ensure that the migrants make a hassle-free journey to their homes.
